It was so fun to have Diablo Magazine's photographer at our shop during the February opening. Did you see him? He was snapping photos of everything from necklaces made of typewriter keys to our huge shabby chic dressers and armoires!

Last month was sweet-n-spooky. Lots of black and orange, not to mention lots of customers looking for a fabulous deal on vintage inspired decor to make their homes hauntingly "boo"tiful!

We were pleased as punch to have been mentioned in the February issue of our local Diablo Magazine!

This month's issue featured an article about the success and circumstances of successful "Pop-up Shops" --stores that are not open every day. They state that these types of stores "provide retailers with the flexibility to open at the most opportune times while building up buzz and a unique product line for each opening—all without the commitment of running a full-time store." That describes us pretty well--we're always a-buzz about something! They also say "success depends on many factors (location, availability of short-term leases, word of mouth)" but what they don't mention is customer loyalty, which is number one in our book, and why we appreciate our customers so much!

We are just giddy, yet humbled at the same time to be a featured spread in the May 2010 edition of Today's Vintage Magazine! Have you seen their new "look"? It's fantastic!



We earned a blurb in April's edition in a feature on Walnut Creek happenings. This time, we were interviewed and from that a lovely story was composed that reports all about us and our monthly sales! You can read it and see more pictures HERE.

We were happily surprised when one of our customers brought a bit a good news into the shop during our last opening!



It's an article from BAY AREA SPACES MAGAZINE, The Premier Magazine of Design about Room With A Past! They had contacted us a few months ago after researching local booming businesses, and came by to take some photos. What a wonderfully, witty, written way to be congratulated for our six year anniversary! You can read it online HERE.

Have you ever noticed how the phrase "Act your age" is usually being uttered by someone looking down their nose at joviality and can be translated to "Stop having so much fun"?
We have some words of advice for you: DON'T STOP! You've got to have your fun while you can find it!

One of our loyal customers, Fenima, discovered us about 6 months ago and kindly asked if she could take some pictures to post on her brand new blog Vintage Therapy. We were thrilled to say "YES", and now we're happy to say "Thank you" as well! As I recall, she and her husband came in and ended up buying a little something for one of her own little ones, in addition to some great items for herself!

We also want to thank the very talented Tara Campell, at Real Life Decorating & More

who has Room With A Past listed under her favorite resources! Her blog is all about "providing trends, ideas, resources, local events & MORE." We noticed her most recent post points the way to some fabulous savings on fabrics. Check out her great eye for color and easy DIY projects!

And a third mention came from Bonnie at Interiors By Design,

who was astonished by our great prices! She not only fell in love with our monthly sales, she posted a picture of how one of her finds is being used in her home! So often we are only privy to the beginning and middle of a decorating story. It was a real treat for us to hear about a happy ending.

Please excuse my faux paus of forgetting to be vocally thankful to Jill Mitchell of "Le Trip", a noteworthy site that gives visitors (novice and not-so) tips and insider info on getting what they want out of their trip to France. She stopped by the shop in May, and added us as one of the best places to visit when you're NOT in France! But when you are planning a trip, please check out her blog. Lodging? History? Shopping? Fashion? A Flea Market (I'm getting giddy just at the thought!) perhaps? It's almost like she's right there, knowledgeably pointing out spots on your flimsy paper map and then re-folding it for you too! You can check out her calender of buying tours for the French vintage buff. As she states, "Visiting France with Le Trip is an experience we hope will give you memories to cherish for a life time."
